Mastitis is definitely one of those annoying things some Mums have to go through. These are my go to essential oils for when I started to feel the lumps. As soon as I felt the onset of mastitis, I rubbed the oils on the affected breast and took an On Guard Protective Blend capsule. I’d continue this until it has gone away and then continue for an extra day or two. I did not have a full blown case of mastitis when I followed this method. And mine had only ever lasted for a feed or two before going away. Don’t forget to massage the lumps out while breastfeeding or pumping!
I’d also like to address the emotional side of mastitis as well. Did you know that breasts represents your ability to nurture or not nurturing yourself and/or others? I often found that I’d get the beginnings of mastitis when I felt like I didn’t nurture my children enough. Like when they’re not feeling well or when I felt like they didn’t eat enough. I’d stop these thoughts and remind myself that it’s fine, my kids are healthy and I’m a nurturing mother! And I’d also take care of myself! Our bodies are telling us to trust ourselves and to give ourselves some self love. Re-wiring your brain with positive affirmations can really help. Talk to yourself positively and choose to feel better!
Note: For those who want to reduce breastmilk, Peppermint is your oil! For those who want to increase their milk, Basil and Fennel oil can help increase lactation.
Wishing everyone lump-free breasts!
***On Guard Softgels are only available for orders from U.S but On Guard Oil Blend is available from Australia.
