LAVENDER – THE OIL OF COMMUNICATION

Lavender Oil is one of the most commonly used essential oils in the world.  Almost everyone has heard of it’s calming benefits.  For me, Lavender has hundreds of benefits that can be used in our daily lives.  DoTERRA’s Lavender Oil is amazing in so many ways.  It is sourced from the most potent, indigenous habitat in France.

The 4 main uses are:
  1. Skin – soothes occasional for all sorts of skin irritations.  It supports the body in tissue repair.
  2. Feelings – reduces anxious feelings
  3. Relax – helps ease feelings of tension the mind, and muscles
  4. Mood – calming relaxing aroma

Body

Lavender relaxes and protects the brain and body.

Bedtime:  Add a few drops of Lavender to pillow or feet before bedtime for a more restful sleep.  Take a few drops internally 10 minutes before bedtime.  Or begin diffusing next to the bed a few minutes before bedtime.

Skin Irritations: Apply topically to soothe skin irritations.  It is BEST to dilute Lavender, so it can remain on the skin longer.  Sometimes applying neat is too concentrated.  Applying 1-2 drops every few hours can help your body heal itself.  Lavender can be taken internally for skin irritations caused by internal factors. For adults, take 2-3 drops 2 or 3 times a day.  For younger children, dilute 1:4 with Fractionated Coconut oil, for older children, dilute 1:3 with Fractionated Coconut oil and rub on location and bottoms of feet 2 or 3 times a day.

Air Freshening: Add drops to water spray bottle to cleanse and freshen air, closets, mattress, car, etc.

Calm Nerves: Take internally or aromatically to reduce anxious feelings and promote calmness.

Releasing Muscle Tension: Lavender is one of the ingredients in the AromaTouch oil.  You can also make your own blend using Marjoram, Basil, Rosemary or White Fir.  Mix these oils with Fractionated Coconut oil before you massage. Massage a few drops on location every few hours until tension has passed.  This is also great for women during menstruation.

Speech Support: Rub Lavender and Spearmint on the outside of the throat to support clear confident speech.  It is great for children learning to speak.  It also is great for people preparing to speak publicly, too.

Pink Eye Healing Support: Rub lavender on the toes of the feet 3-4 times a day.  You may want to add Tea Tree (Melaleuca) oil with the Lavender too.

Headaches: Mix Lavender, Frankincense and Peppermint with Fractionated Coconut oil and rub on temples.  Continue to rub this on every 2-3 hours until pain is gone. Read more about headaches here.

Relieve Tension and Exhaustion: Lavender 2 drops, Clary Sage 5 drops, Cypress 3 drops added to 1 teaspoon of coconut oil.  Gently blend and apply to shoulders and base of the neck with an expectation of Peace and renewed energy.

Mind

Lavender is the Oil of Communication.  It is calming to the mind, allowing the brain to put words into feelings and then assisting you in conveying thoughts and feelings effectively and clearly.  It puts insecurities and fears at ease.  The negative emotions it addresses are as follows: blocked communication, fear of rejection, feeling unseen or unheard, constricted, tension, emotional dishonesty, hiding, fear of self-disclosure, etc.

Relaxing: Lavender is found in the Lavender Peace (Serenity) Calming blend.  Simply put a few drops into a diffuser and diffuse when needed.

Relieve Intolerant and Impatient Feelings: Lavender 2 drops, Bergamot 3 drops, Peppermint 1 drop, added to 1 teaspoon of coconut oil.  Gently blend and apply with an expectation of feeling differently.

Relieve Hurt and Bitter Feelings: Lavender 2 drops, Rose 2 drops, and Helichrysum 2 drops added to 1 teaspoon of coconut oil.  Gently blend and apply over liver.

Relieve Anxious Desperation: Lavender 4 drops, Rose 2 drops added to 1 teaspoon of coconut oil.  Gently blend and apply on throat and back of the neck with an expectation that all is better.

Relieve Nervous and Agitated Feelings: Lavender 3 drops, Wild Orange 2 drops, and Bergamot 1 drop added to 1 teaspoon of coconut oil.  Gently blend and apply to forearms with an expectation of feeling peace and renewed energy.

Usage for Children

Lavender Touch Oil is great to have on hand if you have young children as it can be used when they get hurt.  You can rub it on their owies, bumps, skin irritations, teething, calm them when they’re scared/hyperactive and apply before putting on a bandaid! It’s a handy natural first aid for kids and adults alike!

Lavender oil and Spearmint oil mixed with Fractionated Coconut oil can help with speech support.  This blend helps them emotionally with the courage to speak up, to be heard and have the confidence with their voice.  Apply this on the throat and diffuse.

Lavender Touch Roll-on is prediluted with Fractionated Coconut Oil and can be used for both children and adults.  You may want to dilute further for babies.

For kids under 6, you may not want them to take Lavender internally, so instead you can rub diluted Lavender oil on the bottoms of their feet 2 or 3 times a day.  The most effective way to use oils, is to use a small amount but periodically.  i.e Apply 1-2 drops on the bottom of the feet every 3 or 4 hours.

For kids under 6, dilute Lavender 1:4 with Fractionated Coconut oil.  For kids over 6, dilute Lavender 1:3 with Fractionated Coconut oil.
