It’s that time of year when parents rush around to make sure their kids have everything ready to go back to school such as school bags, shoes, lunch boxes, water bottles etc.  In my case, my daughter is starting kindergarten and joining all the “big kids” this year!  It’s such a big milestone for us, one that I’m not sure I’m ready for.  Although she on the other hand, seemed to be ready donkey years ago.  Ready to be the new teacher’s pet and make a thousand new friends! 😆

I am conscious of all the unsafe products sold out there for children.  There are millions of plastic-ware out there in bright flashy colours that are cheap and disposable, but I’m not all about that plastic-life haha. Most plastic bottles and container advertise that they are BPA-free, but what you don’t know, is that most are replaced by some other harmful chemicals.  There are some plastics that don’t leech as much and are safer than most, though I’m pretty sure those cheap ones in the supermarkets just don’t make the cut.

I went online to the eco-friendly Biome Store and purchased a couple of lunch boxes for my daughter.  I wanted to get something fun, yet long lasting that she can use for years.

• PLANET BOX- The planet box is completely made out of stainless steel, in a bento box style, with decorative magnets to attach on the top.  It comes with 2 different sized leak-proof metal containers with silicone lids for wet food such as yoghurts, dips, etc.  I purchased the matching insulated lunch bag that has a pouch outside for water bottles and a pouch inside for ice packs.  The metal clasp is very easy for little hands to open and close.
• U KONSERVE-  I also bought a U Konserve stainless steel lunch box with a divider in the middle as an extra, in case she needs a spare or is eating different food.  The divider is removable and the lid is made out of safer plastic which is leak-proof.  Great for sandwiches on one side and fruits on the other!
• KLEAN KANTEEN- This Klean Kanteen bottle is not actually for my daughter as she already uses a Thermos bottle.  This bottle is for my husband, to replace is battered and beat up bottle that he refuses to throw out!  I picked this bottle for many reasons.  1. Because it’s blue.  2. It’s huge, almost 1 Litre (946mls) and great for those who drink a lot!  It comes in so many sizes, all the way up to 1.9 litres!  3. It’s double insulated so it will keep cold for 90 hours, 90! That’s if you don’t drink it all up first! And will keep hot for 24 hours! Amazing.  4. It has a wide mouth, so this means it’s easy to clean and wide enough for ice cubes if you like it extra cold!  5. Best of all, it’s toxin-free and doesn’t leave a weird taste.  I love it.  All I need to do now is find that dinged up water bottle he has hidden!
