Soothe Your Skin After Sun Exposure

December 8, 2017

It’s summer time now and time for fun in the sun!  I’ve got pool parties, beach parties and parties in the park to go to throughout this summer so I want to be prepared.  When my family goes swimming, we tend to stay out in the sun all day long and can be exposed just a little tooooo long.  I make a cream for our skin to apply right after sun exposure to sooth and prevent pain and irritations.

This is what I do:

  1. Get a small container like a sauce container, or an empty face cream jar (50g size jar).

2. Add the following oils:

  • 15 Drops of Lavender (helps soothe burns, calms the skin and promotes healing).
  • 8 Drops of Peppermint (helps cool the skin to reduce the itch).
  • 2 Drops of Helichrysum (helps protect skin from the sun and promotes healing).

3. Fill the rest up with a non-toxic body cream like doTERRA’s EO Spa Hand & Body Lotion.

4.  Mix together!

5.  Apply liberally straight after sun exposure.  For irritated skin, apply every 30 minutes until soothed.  For severely irritated skin, add a couple drops of Tea Tree (Melaleuca Oil) and apply for it’s natural antiseptic properties.

I love applying this because it feels so nice on the skin after a day out in the sun.  AND my skin feels normal the next day!  Enjoy the sun, catch some Vitamin D and stay safe folks!
